Mitch Jackson re Apple iphone Order

Earlier today I shared my thoughts on yesterday’s Federal Court Order to Apple requiring it to create code allowing the government to break into the iPhone of San Bernardino Shooter Syed Farook.

tim cookDo you think the government and court are overreaching with this request and order? Here is Apple’s public reply via a letter from CEO, Tim Cook.

  1. Mitch –
Thanks for bringing this to our attention.
This is one conversation that is definitely worth having as the implications are profound.
The idea that the government has ordered a corporation to create a product (that’s alarming enough!) to specifically and intentionally undermine the security and privacy of its customer is mind-blowing.
It’s situations like this that slowly erode our rights, because people tend to focus on the single incident of good (in this case gathering evidence) to justify the means.
I’ll be sharing with my community in hopes to keep this conversation open and thriving.
    Thanks again!
    Best, Jennifer
